It is the tallest tower in the Brookfield Place commercial complex and is also known as the Three World Financial Center and the American Express Tower. The tower was built to house the headquarters of American Express and the now-defunct Lehman Brothers. It is similar in construction to 225 Liberty Street; however, 200 Vesey Street is capped by a solid pyramid, while 225 Liberty features a dome-shaped roof.

The garden features more than 40 retail shops and restaurants and is built as a dramatic public space with a vaulted ceiling. It is a popular public gathering place in the WTC neighborhood. Amenities at 200 Vesey Street include 24/7 access and staffed security, a visitor reception center in the lobby, state-of-the-art building infrastructure, high ceilings, large windows, and exquisite views of Lower Manhattan and the Hudson River.
